Our History

OUR MISSION

Develop a Sustainable Future

The Rainbow Distribution Company is a general partnership located in the Kahnawake Mohawk Territory just outside of Montreal, Quebec. Rainbow Distribution has been endorsed by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake to manufacture and sell finished tobacco products on "Native Reserves/Territories" across Canada.

The cigarette industry is currently a major employer of Kahnawakeron:on within the reserve and is one of the major reasons the unemployment rate within the community has steadily decreased in the past 20 years.

Western Expansion

Job creation is a vitally important component to our western expansion project.

We are well aware of the high rates of unemployment, minimal economic opportunities and the associated negative life outcomes that are often associated with the levels of poverty that currently affect a lot of our western brothers and sisters.

Increase Opportunity

Partnership with Rainbow Distribution would create new work fields in areas such as: security, administrative support, sales and marketing, machine operations and assembly line work, Transportation, social media and Philanthropic activities as well.

Rainbow Distribution’s brighter futures initiative is a scholarship program encouraging young people to stay in school. Rainbow offers internships to students in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Finance and Business management.

Rainbow Distribution takes pride in our community and are proud of our ability to offer employment to many local residents and recognizes the value in supporting the community in any way possible.

BACKGROUND

Indigenous Sovereignty

"It consists of spiritual ways, culture, language, social and legal systems, political structures, and inherent relationships with lands, waters and all upon them. Indigenous Sovreignty exists regardless of what the nation-state does or does not do. It continues as long as the People that are a part of it continue."

For more information on the Trading Rights of Kahnawake, please read the following PDF by Robert W. Venables, Ph.D.; a detailed description of the background and history of the trading practices of the Mohawk people.
